The client brief specified the exact dimensions of the chest.
It should be simple in design, with the only detail being
the end grain of finger joints on all corners.
The chest sides are cut from 1 board and bookmatched, displaying
grain pattern. The top of the chest was cut from a quartersawn
board so as to ensure straight grain with no pattern, providing
a subtle contrast with the sides. All 6 faces were glued together.
The lid was then cut from the "block" to ensure
a perfect fit and grain match.
