Ashes Box was made to house the ashes of my parents. The 2 plastic
urns containing the ashes fit snugly inside.
The timber used was selected specifically to reference the areas
from which my parents originated. The box is made from Blackwood,
a temperate acacia species found in the north east of Victoria where
my mother grew up. The doors are made from Gidgee, an arid acacia
species, representative of the arid landscape of north western Victoria,
where my father grew up. The reversed flame pattern of the doors
is indicative of spirits passing.
